The Shingon Shu Temple is a small temple hidden amongst buildings and I'm always amazed how many show up for their annual Bon Dance. They have food, some game booth for kids and most importantly, free parking at the nearby HMSA building. I got there shortly after work and was able to snap a few shots before it got really dark.
I took some shots from inside the temple.
I wanted to get the colors of the lanterns with the obon tower but the lanterns got a little blown out. When it got dark, it's a little challenging for the flash to reach when the subject is far. I waited a while for the crowd to walk past the drummer before I took the shot. It seems the later it got the bigger the crowd.
and when the color didn't work out in the shot, I find that turning it B and W gives it a new life..

Good white balance! Great shots of the bon dance. The wooden carving is so awesome.
Nice idea with the B & W. That is a lot of people for that small little area.
