Magic Island Fireworks 04/17/09

This felt like such a long work week that I'm so glad my photography class decided to take the class outdoors tonight for a Magic Island sunset/night shoot. Unfortunately, the sunset was rather uneventful since the clouds covered most of it.
I figured if I manually set all 5 shots @ 35mm F8 1/4sec that I'd get an equally exposed panoramic shot. Well, I was wrong and you can still see the different colors in the shot. Hmm..back to the drawing board.
After the sunset, the sky turned a really beautiful orange hue.
Then just before 7:45pm, the Hilton Hawaiian Village started the firework show that lasted only about 5 mins. Our instructor told us to set our cameras to F8, Bulb, Auto White Balance and manual focus set to infinity. It took me several shots to figure out how long to open the shutter which I found counting to 10 worked best(equivalent to 6-8 secs). By the time I was getting the hang of it, it was over.

Your sunset shots are great, nice colors. Your fireworks shots came out really good too, sharp and good color saturation. Great shooting!
