Waikiki Aquarium Earth Day 4/11/09

It was Earth Day at the Waikiki Aquarium so it was Free admission so I had to check it out, even for a couple of hours. The last time I visited, I had not gotten the 16-35mm lens so this time I decided to try shooting with my new lens.
I always go and visit the outside aquarium to see if I can find the friendly puffer fish and the humu and today, he seemed very friendly towards my camera. I wonder if he recognized me.. 8-)

The second must-see is the sea dragon. No matter how many times I go, I always try to get a better shot than the last one. This one came out the best of the ones I took.
I tried to get the jelly fish but my camera refused to auto-focus. So I ended up doing manual focus and finally, I was able to get a good shot.
Another elusive shot are these little jelly fishes. I really like how the background brings out the white.
I found this fish and thought he sure looks grumpy and I wondered what's eating him?

Wow, wow, wow. Unbelievably beautiful shots in very difficult lighting situations. I can't believe you got those with an f2.8 lens. I always shoot with my 50 mm f1.4 at the aquarium thinking that the lens needs to be that fast because it's so dark. That seahorse shot is excellent. I know how elusive he is in that cylindrical tank. And the polka dotted jellyfish are so hard to shoot because they bop bop bop around and don't keep still. I have yet to get a good shot of that grumpy fish. You did a GREAT job. I am sooooo jellos.
