The first group I went to see was called 'Samurai' thinking there were sword fighting. At first, I was disappointed to find out it was a jazz group but when I heard them play, they were awesome and I was really glad I made it to see them.

This year's hula groups were very authentic and a lot of groups performed in beautiful dresses and had beautiful flowers in their hair.
There were taiko performers. All the groups had to bring their own drums from Japan.
There was even a Japanese Tea Ceremony demonstration from a group from Hiroshima.
They even had a fashion show of clothing made of Japanese themed fabric.
I went to Day 2 of the festival to see more Taiko performers. This was a group of college students who performed enthusiastically.
Also there was a whistler who had perfect pitch.
And more hula dancers...

There were even steel drums group...made up of all women.
He's 86 years old and he was also awesome w/ the harmonica. He brought his students of his harmonica school from Japan.
The finale was this very active Taiko drumming troupe. Several members were from Hawaii who now lives in Japan.

Good capture of the performances. I especially like the Japanese Tea Ceremony. You got a perfect spot - to see all that it takes to prepare tea properly.
Very nice, great coverage of the festival. I really like the sax girl shot, the blurred background's colors works so well with her kimono, awesomw. Great shooting!
