17th Annual Filipino Fiesta 5/9/09

We spent the afternoon at the Filipino Fiesta festivities at Kapiolani park. There were non-stop entertainment w/ great singers, performers, and TV stars from the Philippines. I used mostly the 28-135mm lens this time since the 50mm I usually use as well as my XT were in repair.
There was a popular singer/performer from Philippines TV who kinda reminds me of an Asian Justin Timberlake. The girls in the crowd kept screaming and SCREAMING... So, I ended up doing some Googling and found that his name was Jay-R.
He came off the stage and into the crowd several times for us to get some good closeup shots.
There was also a Santacruzan. I also had to Google to find out what it is and found that it was a popular Filipino religious festival where women dress up as various characters and parade in a pageant. One of the characters was depicted by a TV actress from the Philippines. People also gathered around to take her photo.
Everyone in the Santacruzan carried their character's name in the parade.
Some had their own sign bearers..
