Downtown HDR Experiment 5/2/09

We took in a downtown shoot to experiment w/ High Dynamic Range Imaging (HDR) that EV introduced us to. This requires taking at least 3 shots (at EV 0, +2, -2) and combining them together to create more distinct darks and lights and rendering a more vibrant shot. I recently just learned how the software works so I started w/ doing Exposure Blending option to get more intensity in the shot. This was great fun, but did take some time post processing.
In a very dark corner of the Downtown post office was this mirror which I was able to create the correct exposure.
I took a shot of CD at a dark corner w/ back lighting using the 3 EV settings and the HDR software combined the shots to render both foreground and background with balanced exposure.
I was also able to capture the correct exposure shot from a shadow to bright sunlight. I also boosted the saturation.
The boosted saturation made the image look like I used a polarizing filter which I did not use.
I also tried another feature for Detail Enhancement which made the image look like an art work which I thought was kinda cool.

I like your description of HDR. I also like how Detail Enhancement made the canon look nostalgic. Very cool!
