Hawaii State Ballet - 5/18/2012

What? More Ballet? I wanted to practice more shooting and Erick just happen to tell us about another ballet performance at Ala Moana. This one, however, started at 7pm and it's way more challenging than the last ballet shoot. I had to drop the speed to 1/125 so a lot of the faster motion was blurred.  These were shot without flash since I wanted a softer look with their pale dress.
I was trying to capture a spin and it ended up with a blurred motion.
I stood at a different spot than the last shoot and I had to wait until the dancers were closer to the black curtains instead of in front of the ABC store..
I had a lot of shots w/ ABC store in the backgound..luckily this was at F2.8 so the background was a little blurred.

The dancer in the black background with the white dress worked really well.

This was a crop of a full shot since I really like the yellow feathers in her hair and wanted to focus on it.
The performance lasted about 40mins... Unfortunately, all of my leaping shots were either blurred or an arm or leg was out of the frame..oh well.. until the next ballet performance again..

Great ballet shots! I really like the blurred spinning shot. Very nice shots in very low light.
